ComEd Transmission Line

ComEd Transmission Line

Project Description

Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) proposed new transmission line towers along the existing 10-mile corridor near the City of Bloomington in McLean and DeWitt Counties, Illinois. The purpose of the geotechnical investigation was to explore the subsurface conditions, determine engineering properties of subsurface soil, and develop design and construction recommendations for the construction of 39 transmission towers.

GSG Consultants, Inc. (GSG) provided geotechnical engineering services for the project including advancing 39 soil borings to a depth of 50 feet each. GSG’s scope of work included GIS, site mobilization and demobilization, buried utility location/avoidance, surveying, soil borings, rock coring, field classification, field sampling and testing, preparation of a boring log, sample preparation, laboratory testing, and submittal of a final letter report.
