IL-59 Reconstruction & Widening

Project Description

The scope of work includes the total reconstruction of IL 59 between New York Street/Aurora Avenue and Ferry Road, construction of 21 new concrete retaining walls of varying heights and lengths, and construction of 6,385 linear feet of noise abatement walls.  The full reconstruction of the innovative diverging diamond configuration of the Interstate 88/IL 59 interchange will also be implemented.  Additional work at the site includes utility relocations, pump station #47 replacement at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad underpass, reconstruction of the Waubonsie Creek culvert and widening/reconstruction of the following cross streets: New York Street/Aurora Avenue, Liberty Street/Jefferson Avenue, Meridian Parkway/Glacier Park Avenue, North Aurora Road, Brookdale Road and Diehl Road.


GSG’s responsibilities include field inspection and preparation of daily inspection reports documenting field activities, preparation and maintenance of documentation and records for field inspection activities, coordination of the material testing program with the testing agency, and review of test results for compliance with contract documents.  Responsibilities also include submission of final project construction reports and documentation for all field activities and testing results, reviewing pay requests, verifying quantity and pay items, and recommendation for payments.
