Lawndale Christian Health Center constructed a new facility on a historical industrial/commercial property. Based on the findings of an earlier Phase I ESA, the need for a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)/Comprehensive Site Investigation was warranted to assess the presence of subsurface contamination due to historical property uses and their potential impact on the planned construction. Lawndale Christian Health Center elected to enroll the site in the Site Remediation Program. The project is was completed in December of 2012 and an No Further Remediation (NFR) letter was issued for the site.
During the subsurface investigations on-site, a total of 10 soil borings were advanced. Surface and subsurface samples were collected from each boring. The analytical results were compared to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) Tiered Approach to Corrective Action Objectives (TACO), Tier 1 Remediation Objectives.
GSG prepared a soil management plan based on the results of the site investigations. The design plan showed the vertical and horizontal extent of each type of waste stream at the site and requirements for soil handling and management. GSG performed oversight of the soil remediation activities on site.
