PBCC System-Wide New School Construction Program
The Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBCC) required asbestos inspection and project design services and abatement oversight for various PBCC construction projects throughout the City of Chicago. These sites were former residential, commercial and public buildings that required demolition activities for the construction of South Shore High School (Rosemary Park), Westinghouse High School, Back of the Yards High School and Kennedy King College.
Scope of Services
GSG’s scope of services included conducting pre-demolition hazardous building materials surveys for each facility. This included a comprehensive asbestos inspection, lead-based paint testing, mold survey and universal waste inventory. Additional work included preparing remediation/ abatement CADD design plans and specifications for remediation work procedures, hazardous building materials abatement, chemical removals, underground storage tank removals, and other related remediation services. Additionally, oversight during the construction activities were performed in ensuring the work was performed per design plans and specifications and permit requirements.
