Design-Build Project at Amtrak’s Union Station – Chicago, IL
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) was signed into law in an unprecedented effort to jumpstart the American economy and create or save millions of jobs as well as address long-neglected challenges so that the US can thrive in the 21st century. Pursuant to ARRA, Amtrak properties are currently being constructed, renovated, repaired, and/or upgraded in a grand undertaking to modernize the nation’s rail system. With the fast pace of construction and extent of improvements, significant challenges were presented to conduct the work in a manner to protect worker safety as well as that of the Amtrak workers at the facility throughout the construction program.
